Singapore Toys and Comic Convention - Toydem’s Take
![]()
Managed to free myself some time to visit Singapore’s very own Toy and Comic Convention last Saturday. This is also the very first toy convention that I have been to and I am pretty impressed by the organization of the event as a whole. But sadly, even though there were many exhibitors, the variety of toys on sale was pretty limited.
The STCC stretched for a period of 3 days from the 15th of August till the 17th of August. On Saturday, I went down particularly early so that I could get a copy of the events guide which comes with a free kidrobot figure. Sadly, by the time I reached there, the figures were out of stick. DANG!

Guest Artists Artwork
Before entering the convention hall, you will be greeted by this huge wall with lots of drawings on it. These drawings are all hand drawn by guest artists from all over the world. They include Brian Bolland (he drew the Joker on the wall without any sketches!) and also Tan Eng Huat from Malaysia.
Inside the convention hall, I was be greeted by games and toys booths.

One of the popular games booth is Nintendo. As you can see from the picture above, the lady is demonstrating the latest Nintendo Wii Resort game. And what’s Nintendo without Mario?

Besides video games, popular card games like Magic the Gathering was also exhibited.

Well, after looking at the games, I proceeded to look at the toys exhibitors. Some of the exhibitors were big names like Hasbro, Toys’R'US, Bandai, Lego and Play Mobil.

Hasbro - GI Joe

Hasbro - SDCC Wolverine Mighty Muggs

Bandai

Bandai - Gashapon

Bandai - Gundam Gashapon
I was anticipating to see Gundam figure/model kits at the Bandai booth but sadly, there was none to be seen except for the Gundam gashapon.

Lots of gashapon
One of Bandai’s latest toy gimmick: the Capheads.

Back

I suppose this set of Play Mobil toys called the Egyptians was specially launched during STCC.

Other toys ranging from vinyl toys to dolls could also be found at the convention. I particularly like the toys from Bloody Bunny below. It has the Power Puff Girls/ Happy Tree Friends feel.

Bloody Bunny

Crazy Label

Horoscope Bear

Bobble Heads
Exclusive toys were also featured at the convention. Let’s take a look at some of them.

Slardar

Tofu

Mao - Cat

Gundam Exclusive Offer
Alot of toys shops were also selling their wares at the convention. Frequent visitors to Chinatown Square Central will not be unfamiliar with these stores. Since I was overwhelmed with seeing so many toys at one place, I couldn’t help myself from buying a few toys.

Toys temptation
Will post pictures of my loot from STCC as well as the freebies that I have received in the next few coming post. So do keep a lookout. Hope to see a bigger and better Singapore toys, games and comic convention next year.
