Revenge of the Fallen Megatron - Voyager Class Review

thumbnail

Lying at the bottom of the Laurentian Abyss at the end of the first movie was never a favourite pastime for Megatron. That is why after being rescued by the Decepticons in Revenge of the Fallen, Megatron was bent to do what he does best - destroy humanity.

To celebrate Singapore’s 44th National Day, Toydem has the privilege of “interviewing” this vile villain and that is why for today, we will be looking at the latest Hasbro Revenge of the Fallen: Voyager Class Megatron.

Packaging

The Voyager Class Megatron is packed in a rather bulky box however, the boxart is pretty impressive and ‘enticing’ if you ask me. Megatron is packed as a cybertronian tank and is secured tightly with cable ties and plastic bubbles. Notice that this toy is suitable for children aged 5 and above? As there are no removable small parts except for the projectile, I think that it is pretty safe for young children to play with.

Alternate Mode - Cybertronian Tank

You will notice that the Voyager Class Cybertronian tank is a little different from the actual tank in the movie. The Voyager Class Megatron Cybertronian tank looks sleeker and comes with extending wings which are actually movable. In tank mode, you can mount the projectile onto the main cannon and launch it. Notice Megatron’s head sticking out at the front of the tank? Well, the head is actually covered with an outer frame to form a firing interface which isupposedly increases the tank’s firing accuracy.

Robot Mode - Megatron

Front

Megatron stands at around 15cm in height and if you add the tip of his wings, the whole figure spans a total height of 20cm! Besides silver, the figure is coloured green which sorts of suggest oxidation occuring when Megatron is lying at the bottom of the ocean.

The facial and chest details are quite intricately sculpted. The facial details in particular are simply amazing. Seems like Megatron always brushes his pearlie white teeth. The head contains a ball joint so you can actually rotate its head allowing for more dynamic poses.

Chest
Chest

Gears can be seen embedded in the chest area and do you know what, they are actually movable. When you twist the waist of Megatron, the gears actually rotates. The waist however can only be turned laterally.

Leg Details

The leg is also very detailed and it features multiple joints in many area. The track details really gives this figure a very unique overall feel.

Weaponary

Extendable Blade
Extendable Blade - Left Arm

Was this blade the one that impaled Optimus Prime in the movie? Not too sure about that but I am sure no Autobots would want to have a taste of this blade. The left arm is also shaped like a claw and besides the extendable balde, the upper ‘thumb’ is movable.

Right Arm - Unloaded

Right Arm - Unloaded

The right arm is actually the main cannon of the tank. So it actually fires a projectile.

Action Poses

The Voyager Class Megatron is pretty articulated due to the presence of joints in the shoulder, legs and head region. As a result, you can actually pose this figure in many dynamic poses. So let’s start the camera rolling.

Compared to the Leader class Megatron, I would say that the Voyager Class Megatron is a better rendition of the movie Megatron. The overall kit is pretty balanced in terms of details, articulation and gimmicks. Got this fellow from Metro Sengkang at $38++ since there was a 20% discount. A good catch if you ask me. For those who are wondering whether to get this? I would strongly recommend it. Will be doing a Soundwave review soon but in the meantime, do check out Amazon for your very own Voyager Class Megatron.
