A look at the Revenge of the Fallen Transformers figures

Finally had a chance to catch the latest Transformers Movie: Revenge of the Fallen over the last weekend. Overall, the show was ok just that the fighting scene between the robots were a little chaotic. The story plot regarding the Fallen was a little different compared to that of the original TF Fallen but nevertheless, its nice to see familiar names like Devastator, Jetfire and most importantly Megatron again.

The Transformers in the movie are rendered differently from what you would remember from the cartoon series. In the movie, the robots are designed to have a more battle worn and organic feel. I especially like the close up scene of Optimus Prime during his battle with Megatron and Starscream. In that scene, you can actually see the weathering and battle damage inflicted on Prime.

Since the movie was a collaboration with Hasbro, you can be sure that Revenge of the Fallen will be accompanied with action figures. Another marketing strategy by Hasbro is to divide the figures into different classes based on their size and detailing. However, the prize also varies accordingly with the classes. Since the list of figures is pretty extensive, I will be introducing some of the figures to you all.

Leader Class

The Leader Class Transformers stands at around 12-15cm in height. The details on this figures are amazing but the only drawback is that there are no diecast parts. The figures also comes with 2 AA batteries since they are equipped with sound and light function. A rather useless gimmick for TF collectors - don’t you think so?

Megatron comes with a launching projectile and this time in his alternate mode, instead of a jet, he is a cybertonian tank. Notice that his left arm is pretty scriggly? That is because you can actually attach the Ravage figure onto his left arm. Regretted not buying it at SG$92 when it was sold at a toy carnival. When I visited normal departmental stores to buy it, it was selling at SG$109… Dang!

Jetfire

The leader class figure are going at ard the 90 -100 dollars range. So don’t pay more for it.

Voyager Class

Next in line after the leader class is the voyager class. Megatron and Optimus Prime is available in voyager class as well. Voyager class figures stands at around 10 cm in height. Price wise, it is between SG$50 -60.

Starscream

Starscream

Disguised as a F-22 Raptor, Starscream is still as cowardly as ever both in the movie and cartoon.

The Fallen

The Fallen

The main villain in the movie, the Fallen is out to destroy Earth and wipe out humanity. Able to transform into destroyer mode, he is sure a tough nut to crack.

Deluxe Class

One of my favourite character could only be found in this class. That is - Soundwave. In the movie, Soundwave is a giant satellite structure floating in space. It is able to infiltrate other man made satellite to probe for information. A rather different rendition of the classic cassette player Soundwave. Its a pity I have not spotted anywhere in Singapore selling it. Any clues where I may get it? How about a mass order from Hasbro?

Well as mentioned earlier, these figures forms only a small section of the whole Revenge of the Fallen toys. Do visit Hasbro for the whole range! Might be getting a Optimus Prime or Megatron Leader Class figure for customization. Amazon is also selling these figures. You can check it out here: Revenge of the Fallen: Transformers Figures
