Gundam Astray Blue Frame Fourth L (Updated 10/5/2009)

For this project, I will be using the Gundam Astray Blue Frame 2nd L as the body frame. The kit is actually a 1/100 scale kit and like all other Bandai Gundam kits, requires some minor assembly. An image of the original kitcan be seen below.

The Astray Blue Frame is actually piloted by Gai Murakumo and he belongs to a group of mercenaries called the Serpent Tail. The thing that attracted me to this kit was the gigantic sword wielded by the Gundam. However, I disliked the kits shoulders and head fin. On top of that, the kit is a little bulky for my taste.

Therefore I set out to make some modifications to the kit. The name for this Gundam will be called Astray Blue Frame fourth L since there is a 3rd L out there already.

Basically I have already made changes to the head, shoulder joints and shoulder. However they require some more touch up and sanding. Will post a more detailed updates when I have the time but for now, lets take a look at some changes that I have made.

10/05/2009 - Knee Detailing

Finished some minor detailing for the knee region. Basically I will not be making much changes to the leg region except for some lengthening and detailing.

Here’s a look at what I have done:

Some detailing tips to share is as follows:

mod

1. Remove small portions of knee part

2. Use a plastic rod and trim it to size to fit in the small recess that you have created in 1.

3. Attached the trimmed plastic rod piece to the recess using cement or glue.
