After a year of speculation on what the next Masterpiece transformers is going to be, the truth is finally out. Next in line for the Takara Masterpiece series is going to be Masterpiece Grimlock. Grimlock is numbered MP 08 and before him was Thundercracker being MP 07.

Most of you by now will be roaring: “ME WANT GRIMLOCK!”.

I know, I know. I am pretty excited over these news too as Grimlock is one of my favourite autobot. The last time i saw a rendition of the G1 Grimlock was from the Henkei series. Takara did a pretty good job in terms of sculpting details and articulation for the Grimlock in that series. Hopefully, these Masterpiece 08 Grimlock will be even better.

Takara has increased the retail pricing on this item to 13,000 yen, so we would expect this figure to be slightly larger and bulkier than previous Masterpiece figures, which were in the 10,000 yen range. Will definitely post more pictures of the actual figure once they release them. The figure is estimated to be released in March next year, 2009.
