Halo 3 Series 2 - Brown EVA Spartan

The Brown EVA Spartan is available under the Multiplayer line-up of Series 2 and comes packaged in a blister card. This figure however, is not available from the mass retailers and is a Toy’s ‘R’ Us exclusive, meaning that it could only be bought from Toy’s ‘R’ Us and no where else. This meant that non US nor Canada citizens like me could only lay our hands on one through other means… (think of some famous auction sites and you’ll get the answer.)

On closer inspection, the Brown EVA Spartan is secured in place via a twist tie at each of the 4 limbs. This particular armour variation is not a new mould, in fact, the EVA Spartan made it’s debut appearance in Series 1, also under the Multiplayer line-up but as a mass retailed figure.

The base mould is still that which all Spartans share, Masterchief included, and as such, all Spartans featured in the Halo 3 toy series share the same articulation joints as well as the same number and position of the peg holes.

This being a Multiplayer figure, it features interchangable armour pieces that can be swapped between all Multiplayer Spartans to create your very own personalised Spartan figure with custom armour configuration. The shoulder armour pieces, the helmet and the front chest plate can be removed. The variations in these armour pieces make up the different types of Spartan armour configurations.

The shoulder armour pieces are rounded in nature and covers much of the shoulder ball joint. The frontal chest plate is pretty similar to the MK VI chest plate with some extra armour on the front. The most discerning feature of the EVA front chest plate is the 2 circular designs sitting just above the waist that looks like a cassette piece. Another discerning feature of the EVA armour is the helmet, which is very rounded and the visor covers most of the frontal part of the helmet. It looks like a fish bowl and reminds me of a certain Spiderman villian.

One point to note when buying exclusive figures from Series 2 is to look out for the ‘exclusive sticker’ on the packaging bubble. The sticker is part of the package design and states the store as to which it is exclusive to which in this case is, Toy’s ‘R’ Us.

The Brown EVA Spartan comes packaged with a beam rifle and a grenade. The pegs come attached to the weapons and can be removed if the need arises. The beam rifle is essentially the same weapon that came with the Series 1 Jackal Sniper. One point to take note is that the barrel portion of the beam rifle tends to warp even when in the packaging as can be seen from the picture above. Nothing that a little corrective ’coaxing’ from time to time would be more than enough to straighten it.

Lastly, this being an exclusive figure, it is produced in limited quantities, ranging from about 750 to the more commonly heard 3000 that I’ve seen as claimed in auctions or by sellers that I know of. Though I tend to believe the 3000 quantity figure more over the 750 one.  So I’ll sign off with wishing all the prospective Series 2 exclusive completists/hunters good luck in their bid to get 1 if you have not done so already.

I’m keeping mine MOSC though, can’t bear the thought of opening it up. XP
