Halo 3 Series 3 - Red Hayabusa Spartan
The Red Hayabusa Spartan is available under the Multiplayer line-up of Series 3 and comes packaged in a blister card. The figure is held in place via a twist tie at the waist.
In the game, the full Hayabusa armour piece set can be unlocked when one manages to find all of the gold and silver skulls. The figure faithfully represents the armour set as seen in the game.
As can be seen from the picture above, the figure is placed in a pose that resembles that of the Masterchief. Truth to be told, all the Spartans in Series 3 are packaged in this pose. On closer inspection, the Hayabusa Spartan does not seem to sport a blackwash as compared to the other Spartans from the rest of the line. As such, the figure looks like a lump of red from afar, lacking any armour details till closer inspection. Whether as to this if it is an intended feature or not I’m not really sure as the 2 Hayabusa figures that I currently own do not feature the black panel wash.
Articulation wise, the Hayabusa Spartan features all the same points of articulation as the previous Spartans and the Masterchief. The pegholes are also in the same place. The only distinguishable difference is in the shoulder armour pieces, the front chestplate and the helmet. The shoulder armour pieces remind me of that which the samurai would use in feudal japan. The helmet closely resembles the helmet that Ryu Hayabusa from the Ninja Gaiden game in his futuristic ninja outfit. If I’m not wrong, the Hayabusa armour set was like a kind of homage to Ryu Hayabusa.
Accessory wise, the Hayabusa Spartan comes packaged with a battle rifle and a fragmentation grenade. The pegs are already attached to the weapons in the packaging and can be removed from the weapons as one deems fit.
The battle rifle closely resembles the in-game counterpart and can be held only in the right hand of the Hayabusa Spartan. One thing to note is that the trigger does not feature a hole for the fingers to go into. The fingers just overlap the entire trigger assembly. The fragmentation grenade is the same as those that were issued in the earlier series.
